About Herbs of the Field
Herbal
“And on the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither, nor their fruit fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing.”
Ezekiel 47:12, ESV
Hi, I’m Amanda Young. Welcome to my little corner of the universe!
My journey into herbalism started the way a lot of things in life do: with one of my children. When my daughter developed Bell’s palsy from Lyme disease and conventional treatment fell short, a master herbalist came alongside our family. That experience opened my eyes, and I’ve never looked at the plants around us the same way since.
I have always felt a gentle call towards plants, but this experience with my daughter is what truly started my herbal journey. It began where it does for so many of us: at my kitchen table, experimenting with what I could learn online and from any book I could get my hands on. I soon wanted a deeper foundation, so I earned certificates through the Herbal Academy and then through in-person training with Mary Blue at Farmacy Herbs in Providence. Along the way, I’ve learned a great deal from the books, videos, podcasts, and websites of herbalists like Rosemary Gladstar, Stephen Buhner, and Matthew Wood.
I know what it’s like to be a busy parent. Not everyone has the time to study herbs or mix up their own remedies, and you shouldn’t have to. That’s why I make honest, carefully crafted products using quality herbs from trusted suppliers like Mountain Rose Herbs and Starwest Botanicals, choosing organic and kosher whenever I can. I also keep my prices fair, because good health shouldn’t be a rich man’s luxury.
I’m a born-and-raised New Englander who loves the Lord, homeschooling my daughters, being with friends and family, horseback riding, hiking, camping, and gardening. I’m currently learning beekeeping and other traditional homesteading skills, and someday I hope to grow my own herbs. Building this business is also my way of showing my girls what it looks like to use the gifts God has given them to create beautiful things and serve others with love and gratitude.
None of this would be possible without God’s guidance and the support of my family. If you have a question or just want to talk herbs, reach out anytime. I’d love to hear from you.
God Bless, Amanda
